The future is electric
Electricity cannot be stored, which means that generation and consumption must always be in balance. See the generation and consumption of electric power in Norway, week by week, as far back as 2001.
The statistics have not been corrected for margins of error between one and two per cent. They may therefore deviate somewhat from the key figures in the table of annual generation and consumption from 1974 to the present.
Generation is the sum of power delivered by the major producers, plus assumed power generation in micro and mini power plants. Consumption is calculated as generation plus power imports, less potential exports, on Statnett's interconnectors to the Nordic region and Europe.
